Since its founding in 1997
DOWAS has been working toward the following goals:
1.
Promoting and supporting research and development
in the application of deep sea water resources.
2.
Disseminating and evaluating scientific
and technical knowledge.
3.
Providing opportunities and common forums
for the exchange of opinions and informatiion as well as
for the collaboration among the membership.
These goals are
accomplished by a variety of means including conferences, seminars,
committee meetings and publications. The membership is
open to the international community of individuals and
organizations having interest in the goals of the Society.
President : Toshitsugu Sakou
The current
membership of the Society numbers are about 300, including
governmental, corporate and academic institutions as well
as professionals having affiliation with a wide variety of
fields.
